What’s New
Every new tool, improvement and fix on yootils, newest first. If a calculation itself changed, it is listed here — a result you saved before that date may not match what the tool gives you today.
- New a tool or page that did not exist before
- Improved something existing works better
- Fixed something was wrong and now is not
-
Five new calculators, and results you can share
A new set of finance, date and maths tools, and a result panel that shows how the figure was worked out rather than just stating it.
-
New
Credit Card Payoff Calculator — how long a balance takes to clear, what the interest costs, and what paying only the minimum adds.
-
New
Pay Rise Calculator — what a rise is actually worth once tax and National Insurance come out of it.
-
New
LTV Calculator — your loan-to-value, and how much further you need to go to reach the next lender band.
-
New
Business Days Calculator — working days between two dates, with UK bank holidays taken out.
-
New
Ratio Calculator — simplify, solve, scale and divide ratios.
-
Improved
Twenty calculators now share one result panel that shows the figure, the inputs it came from and the assumptions behind it — so you can check the working, not just read the answer.
-
Improved
Every calculator can now hand you a link that restores what you typed. Send it to someone and they open the same calculation rather than an empty form.
-
New
How We Test — the automated checks every change has to pass before it reaches the site, what each one catches, and what none of them can prove.
-
Improved
42 of our 60 calculators — are now checked automatically against worked examples calculated from the published formulas — 114 checks in all, including the inputs that break calculators, like a zero interest rate, a reversed date range or a blank field. They run before any change can be committed, and the page above says which tools are covered and which are not yet.
-
Fixed
Compound Interest — the Compound Frequency setting was ignored and every projection compounded monthly, so Annually, Semi-annually and Quarterly all came out too high — £10,000 at 7% over 10 years compounded annually was shown as £20,096.61 when it should have been £19,671.51. All five frequencies now work, and the effective annual rate follows the one you pick. A projection you ran before today is worth checking again.

Every tool states its sources and when they were last checked
A calculator is only as good as the rules behind it. Each one now says which rules it used, where they came from, and when we last looked.
-
New
Editorial & Calculation Methodology — how sources are chosen, how calculations are tested, and how corrections are handled.
-
Improved
Every tool and guide now carries a visible review block naming the method, the source authority behind it and the date those sources were last checked — plus the tax year or dataset period where the result depends on one.
-
New
Widget install guide — for site owners embedding a yootils calculator, alongside a page setting out exactly what an embedded widget does and does not collect.
-
New
-
A shorter homepage, and consistent security headers
-
Improved
The homepage hero is more compact, so the category list is reachable sooner on a phone.
-
Improved
The security headers that protect your browser on this site are now defined identically for every host the site can run on, instead of only one of them.
-
Improved
-
Deeper finance guides, and two listing errors fixed
-
Improved
Six thin finance pages were rewritten into full explanations, covering what the number means and where it stops being reliable.
-
Improved
FAQ answers are now visible on the page. They previously existed only in the markup search engines read, which meant readers could not see them at all.
-
Fixed
Two Date & Time tools were filed under the wrong category in the menu and hub pages, so they were hard to find from the section they belonged to.
-
Fixed
The word-game pages described their word lists inaccurately. They now name the lexicon each tool actually uses.
-
New
A proper 404 page, so a mistyped address offers a way back rather than a dead end.
-
Improved
-
Choose your currency on the finance tools
-
New
A currency selector on the finance calculators, so the symbols and formatting match the money you are actually working in.
-
Fixed
The currency selector caused sideways scrolling on narrow phones. It now fits the width of the screen.
-
Improved
Take-Home Pay — income and deduction fields now carry a currency badge, so it is clear which boxes take an amount.
-
Improved
Year fields across the finance tools are labelled consistently, instead of three different wordings for the same thing.
-
New
-
Two savings calculators, and a homepage you can browse
-
New
Savings Calculator — project what regular deposits grow into, or how long reaching a target will take.
-
New
How Long Will My Money Last — how long a pot lasts at a given withdrawal rate, and what a sustainable withdrawal looks like.
-
Improved
The homepage was rebuilt around a category accordion with real icons, so every section is one tap from the top of the page.
-
New
-
One design across every tool
Every calculator on the site was moved onto a single shared design, so inputs, badges, results and tables behave the same way wherever you land.
-
Improved
Finance, Health, Date & Time, Maths and Words tools were all migrated onto the shared component set — the same input rows, result panels and tables on every page.
-
Improved
Tooltips were added across the tool pages, so a term you do not recognise can be checked without leaving the calculator.
-
Fixed
Body Fat Calculator — unit badges sat detached from their inputs, and the waist-to-height tool's sex and unit tabs did not match the rest of the site.
-
Improved
-
Guides that explain the formulas
-
New
Eleven guides and formula explainers — BMI, BMR, compound interest, amortisation, percentages and more — for when you want to understand the calculation rather than only run it.
-
New
-
Five category hubs and an all-tools index
-
New
All Tools — one index of everything on the site, alongside hub pages for Finance, Health & Fitness, Date & Time, Maths & Conversion and Words & Games.

Found something wrong?
If a calculator gives a result you cannot reproduce, cites a rule that has since changed, or breaks on your device, tell us through the contact page and include the address of the page. Corrections to a calculation are logged above, not applied quietly.
How sources are chosen and calculations are tested is set out in our Editorial & Calculation Methodology.
